MINI Clubvan: Debut at 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Sat, 23 Jun 2012The MINI Clubvan – a MINI Clubman with blocked out windows and no back seats – arrives as a production model and debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The MINI Clubvan arrived as a concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but there was no chance MINI were going to pass up the chance of filling yet another MINI niche, which makes it no surprise this morning sees the arrival of the production version of the Clubvan. Looking exactly like what it is – a MINI Clubman with polycarbonate panels over the back windows and no back seats – the MINI Clubvan aims to do for trendy delivery businesses what the MINI did for trendy Estate Agents - make their ubiquitous presence a real annoyance.
Ironman Stewart retires, sells all
Fri, 27 Aug 2010The off-road racing accomplishments of Ivan "Ironman" Stewart might never be matched: 82 major wins in desert racing, 17 of them in the crash-and-bang Mickey Thompson stadium series, three Baja 1000s and others too numerous to squeeze in here over a career that spanned 30 years. The thing that really sets him apart is that, while competitors shared driving duties over the long desert courses, Stewart did the vast majority of them alone, with no relief drivers--just him and the dirty, dusty desert. But even legends want to retire someday.
The Manx makes it!
Tue, 20 May 2014After 1,300 miles, 96 hours, two engines, three transmissions, a busted exhaust, a bent shifter, a stuck throttle, countless bottles of water, much swearing and the looming threat of heat exhaustion, Bruce Meyers and the Meyers Manx Race Team buggy drove through the finish line at the town square of San Jose Del Cabo and completed the damn 2014 NORRA Mexican 1000 once and for all. Finally -- for Meyers' and the number 1964 buggy's first time -- they had successfully navigated the Baja Peninsula and finished under their own power. The poor Meyers Manx Dual Sport was looking worse for the wear when it streamed into town at 5:30 p.m.
