SEAT hints at new Nurburgring lap record
Wed, 12 Feb 2014Repeated references to the Nurburgring during the press conference at the launch of the new SEAT Leon Cupra strongly suggest that the 280hp hot hatch has broken the front-wheel drive lap record. SEAT is waiting until the 2014 Geneva Motor Show before saying any more, but has already hinted that its new Leon Cupra is significantly faster than the current Renaultsport Megane record holder. Running under the theme of ‘Breaking Records and Pushing Boundaries’, the three-day adrenaline-fuelled carnival will focus on the 100th anniversaries of both Brooklands and the Isle of Mann TT, as well as celebrating 60 years of Ferrari, 20 years of the World Superbike Championship and the fastest cars in the world from the Bonneville Speed Week. Running from 22-24 June, the Festival will feature everything from the Sunbeam V12 350hp that set the final Land Speed Record at Brooklands to the Andy Green-piloted JCB Dieselmax which last year set the Diesel Land Speed Record.
Ferrari posts record sales despite economic uncertainty

The Italian automaker has released sales figures for the first six months of 2012, and they’re impressive by any measure. Revenues for the first half of the year are up nearly 12 percent, and net profits have risen 10 percent to over $130 million.
