 The judges of the Los Angeles Auto Show's Design Challenge have named the Dodge Superbee and Volkswagen Mobile Lounge as joint-winners of the first ever automobile design studio competition. Designer Reto Brun of Volkswagen/Audi Design Center California said his studio considered two Los Angeles issues when designing the Volkswagen Mobile Lounge - an antidote to traffic and a better option for the area's "limo-centric" entertainment culture. Volvo aims for global market with police-spec XC70

Volvo is staking its police-car fleet ambitions in Europe and beyond on a newly upgraded chassis underpinning the Volvo XC70, already a popular choice among police forces across Europe. The Swedish police force recently designated the 2014 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD as the best car in its fleet after carrying out exhaustive tests, with an overall score of nine out of 10. That's right, the diesel XC70 D5 AWD was chosen as the best vehicle in the police-car fleet in Sweden, even though on this side of the pond, the car is still associated more with ownership of multiple golden retrievers and the school run.

Volvo Concept Estate to become new Volvo V90?

The Volvo Concept Estate (pictured) looks set to be the new V90 The final in a trio of new concepts from Volvo showcasing their new platform and new direction debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month as the Volvo Concept Estate. And it seems it might be heading for production. Not, as we expected, as a replacement for the Volvo V60, but as a larger car set to replace the V70 and to be dubbed the V90, according to Auto Bild.
