Wed, 19 Feb 2014

The new Aston Martin V8 Vantage N430 (pictured) gets Vantage S power It’s tough having motor shows to attend and nothing new to offer, so car makers tend to deliver a ‘Special Edition’ of an existing model to make it look like they’ve made and effort. Step forward the Aston Martin V8 Vantage N430 and the Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Black & Carbon White Editions. There’s little new on offer, really, with a rehashing of what Aston Martin has produced before as ‘Limited Edition’ cars, with the V8 Vantage N430 continuing the theme of Vantage  ’N’ Editions and the Carbon’ limited edition’ DB9s done before.

By Ben Barry Motor Shows 12 September 2007 07:28 Seat Ibiza Ecomotive: the lowdown Even the Spanish went green at Frankfurt. Using the Polo BlueMotion’s 1.4-litre TDi engine, longer gear ratios and Dunlop tyres that generate less friction, the Ibiza Ecomotive will deliver 74.3mpg and emit just 99g/km CO2, meaning it is tax exempt and, should Ken Livingstone’s recent proposals be approved, get into London’s Congestion Charge zone for free. Performance figures are yet to be announced, but expect 77bhp, 144lb ft torque, a 0-60mph time of around 12.8sec and a top speed of 109mph – figures in line with the Polo.

Official: New Alfa Romeo Spider based on new Mazda MX-5

Sun, 20 Jan 2013

Following a MOU in May 2012, Alfa Romeo has confirmed they will be launching a new Alfa Spider in 2015 based on the next Mazda MX-5 Back in May 2012, Fiat and Mazda signed a memorandum of understanding to produce a new Alfa Romeo Spider built on the same platform as the next generation Mazda MX-5, and that has now turned in to a solid agreement with the new Alfa Spider arriving in 2015. But this won’t be a simple badge-engineering by Fiat to roll out a new Alfa Spider that’s just the same as the next MX-5 but with a different badge and grill, but will feature different styling and engines to make sure there is real differentiation between the roadsters. That means the new Alfa Spider getting Italian styling (which we hope has more than a passing nod to the original Alfa Spider) an, it’s expected, Alfa’s 1750cc engine we’ll see in the new Alfa 4C when that arrives.
