So, here’s the inevitable special edition version: the creatively titled SLS AMG Final Edition. Available as a coupe and soft-top roadster, the Final Edition received a mixture of aerodynamic upgrades from the SLS Black Series, and luxury options to set itself apart from ‘normal’ SLS-kind.

With Mercedes take on a compact SUV with the new GLA revealed at Frankfurt in September, we’d expected Mercedes would put the 4WD power plant from the A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG under the skin of the new GLA to make a very hot compact SUV. Recently, we had Alfa pitting the MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp in a race around London against an athlete. On the face of it that race was to promote UK Athletics (sponsored by Alfa Romeo) but a big part, and the reason for the ‘London’ angle, is that the latest MiTo emits just 95g/km – the perfect London car.
