Wed, 05 Dec 2007

By Ben Pulman Motor Shows 05 December 2007 10:30 Come on, I’ve seen the new Impreza before… You have, but not this one. Subaru chose the Bologna Motor Show for the debut of the UK-spec WRX STi, which unlike the 2.0-litre Japanese model we’ve driven, uses a 2.5-litre engine. Vauxhall Adam & Vauxhall Cascada get new engines Vauxhall (and Opel, for that matter) are on a mission to fit new, more powerful and more efficient engines in cars across their range, and new engines are on their way for the Vauxhall Adam and the new Cascada. The Vauxhall Adam gets a new 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine from GM’s SGE (Small Gasoline Engine) family that will ultimately offer 3 and 4-cylinder engines up to 1.6 litres. The 1.0 litre 3-pot for the Adam gets 113bhp and 122lb/ft of torque (it’s Vauxhall’s take on the hugely successful 1.0 litre EcoBoost Ford are busy introducing across their range) mated to a new six-speed gearbox.

Need to report a POTHOLE? Government-backed App makes it easy There can’t be many motorists in the UK who haven’t fallen foul of our pitted and potholed roads (one of the Cars UK team had a £1500 suspension re-build bill last year), so anything we can do to point out what needs doing is a bonus. So the news that the government is backing an App to report potholes in the UK to the tune of £30,000 is good news (assuming the reported potholes get acted on).
