BMW i3 caught testing in New York
Tue, 28 May 2013BMW has been hyping its futuristic i lineup for years now, but the long lead time doesn't mean that the highly efficient, carbon-fiber-based vehicles are vaporware. Earlier this month, we test drove pre-production versions of the i3 and i8, and last week, Autoweek reader Frank Cogliano spied the former vehicle on the road. McLaren MP4-12C High Sport – and then there were 10
Sat, 17 Mar 2012McLaren MP4-12C High Sport - 10 cars made and just a white one left We’ve discovered that there have actually been 10 McLaren MP4-12C High Sport models created – and one is up for grabs. Last week we reported on a very special run of five special McLarens – the McLaren MP4-12C High Sport – commissioned by a dealer and created by McLaren Special Operations at Woking. The MP4-12C High Sport adopted cues from Mclaren’s MP4-12C GT3 for its cosmetic makeover with a new nose, new back bumper, bigger air vents, new diffuser and new rear wing, all set off by a new set of bespoke alloys.
Concept Car of the Week: DeTomaso Zonda (1971)
Fri, 26 Jul 2013Not satisfied in producing one of the most astonishing sports cars of the ‘60s with the Mangusta, Italian carmaker DeTomaso asserted its ambitions in 1970 by presenting an even more striking sports car, the Pantera, alongside the luxurious Deauville four-door sedan, both powered by the same Ford V8 engine. Those new gorgeous models were the work of Dutch-born Tom Tjaarda, then head of design at Ghia. Despite those amazing cars, the styling house was struggling to make a profit and that same year, Alejandro DeTomaso sold Ghia along with a large chunk of his company to Ford, which was looking for that exotic Italian touch.
