One Lap of the Web: Dancing grandmas, fun with captions and drunken driving
Wed, 15 May 2013We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Here's your daily giggle: Watch some dancing grannies cruise in their Mitsubishi i-MiEV in an ad for Cambio, a Belgian car-sharing company.
Mercedes S400 Hybrid – and a facelift as well
Wed, 08 Apr 2009Mercedes S400 Hybrid launched - and a facelift for the S Class Range [ad#ad-1] Mercedes has long held the ‘Best Luxury Car’ mantle, despite build quality issues in the early part of this century, but the competition, particularly from Audi and BMW has got stronger with each model change, so they have to keep upping their game (and the new Jaguar XJ may make them up it even further before long). So we knew it time for a facelift for the current S Class, but Mercedes has decided to link that with the launch of the first S Class Hybrid – the S400 Hybrid. The S400 Hybrid gets a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, which on its own delivers 279bhp, but linked to an electric motor it gets a 20bhp boost and a big jump in torque.
Arizona auctions week gets optimistic start
Thu, 20 Jan 2011It's auction time in Arizona, and Barrett-Jackson has seen some numbers grow. Monday's preview day drew record crowds--a reported 39,000 attendees--a whopping 85 percent increase from 2010. The weather might have played a part, as for the first time in quite a few years, temps have been in the Chamber of Commerce-like low 70s during the days with cool nights.
