Flower Power: Ford considers using dandelions to grow its green efforts

When most people see dandelions, they go for the weed killer. Ford goes for the fertilizer. The dandelion is a sustainable material being looked at for its use in cars--specifically, the rubberlike substance that the Russian breed of the plant secretes.

Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell (2010): the electric SLS

Following the unveiling of Tesla's updated Roadster 2.5, Mercedes is showing off its iteration of an all-electric sports car: the SLS AMG E-Cell. While the regular SLS pumps out 563bhp and 479lb ft from its 6.2-litre V8, the SLS E-Cell has four synchronous electric motors, powering all four wheels for a combined output of 392kW (equivalent to 526bhp) and a mammoth 649lb ft of torque. Crucially, all of that power is accessible from zero revs, allowing the E-Cell to sprint to 62mph in four seconds dead.

New BMW X4 looks a winner: Geneva Motor Show

The new BMW X4 (pictured) revealed at Geneva The arrival of the new BMW X4 at the Geneva Motor Show isn’t exactly a surprise, and nor is the fact that it’s very much the same as the X4 Concept we saw at the Shanghai Motor Show last year. What is perhaps a bit of a surprise is a price list that appears to price the new X4 about 15 per cent more than the comparable X3; the X4 xDrive 35d M Sport costing £48,990 compared to the X3 xDrive 35d M Sport at £42,900. Still, style comes at a price.
