GMC Granite concept (w/ Video)

The biggest surprise at the 2010 NAIAS was GMC's Granite concept - a design that expands (or rather contracts) the truck/crossover brand's 'professional grade' philosophy to a compact hatchback aimed at urban hipsters and early adopters. Conceived by Frank Saucedo's Advanced Design team in California and then built at GM's Design Center in Detroit, the Granite combines the basic proportions of the Nissan Cube and Scion xB with a military/industrial feel inspired by the current G-Star and Diesel fashion lines. GM expands advanced-vehicle-technology center in California

General Motors unveiled a new technical center dedicated to the development, maintenance and testing of alternative-energy vehicles last week in Torrance, Calif. The company has had local digs for years but recently leased the building next to its existing Advanced Technology Center for an alternative-energy research facility. It now employs a dozen scientists, technicians and engineers to advance the electrification of GM vehicles.

2012 Porsche Cayenne GTS The latest iteration of the Porsche Cayenne GTS – a sportier take on the Cayenne – will debut at the Beijing Motor Show. Porsche feels it’s time to roll out the GTS treatment for the latest version of the Cayenne, so pencil-in the Beijing Motor Show later this month for the debut of the 2012 Porsche Cayenne GTS. The GTS version of a Porsche usually bows in after the range has had a year or two to bed in and offers a sportier, harder-edged version of the standard Porsche offering; fitting in the range between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo.
