Saab pulls out of Frankfurt motor show
Wed, 17 Aug 2011It's become a cliché in the automotive press to proceed Saab with the word 'troubled' recently. Yet the company's latest announcement does little to dispel the notion that all is not well in Trollhatten, as it has announced that it will not be featuring at September's Frankfurt auto show. The Swedish car manufacturer has had trouble paying suppliers in recent months, and it is thought that Saab will instead use the money allotted to Frankfurt in order to pay them.
Mercedes confirms electric AMG SLS
Fri, 17 Jul 2009By Richard Webber First Official Pictures 17 July 2009 09:46 Mercedes’ new AMG SLS – the gullwinged GT supercar due to appear at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show – is going electric as engineers develop an emissions-free battery powered SLS as an alternative to the 563bhp V8. The eco SLS will have an electric motor powering each wheel, producing a total of 526bhp. Needless to say, for now it remains an engineering prototype – but a spokeswoman told CAR that Mercedes was intent on putting it into production.
Fiat aims to keep green lead with fuel-sipping two-cylinder engine
Wed, 14 Jul 2010Fiat S.p.A. aims to keep its environmental lead in Europe by selling what it claims to be the world's most fuel-efficient gasoline engine. When the engine goes on sale in the Fiat 500 minicar in September, the 875cc unit will be the only two-cylinder engine fitted in a car in Europe.
