September sales hint at improvement

A 10 percent increase in new-vehicle sales in September is sparking optimism that the year will have a strong finish. And analysts say that deals might get better over the next few months as Toyota and Honda finally recover from shortages caused by the earthquake that hit Japan in March. Those brands might increase spending on incentives to woo buyers back into their showrooms.

Prince Harry burns rubber at Goodwood

EVERYONE’S favourite Royal fun-lover Prince Harry took to the race track at the weekend with a visit to the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit. After being welcomed by keen petrolhead Lord March, owner of Goodwood, the Prince put in some hot laps in a classic Aston Martin DB4, before jumping into a Lamborghini Gallardo for an even faster run as part of his activities for the Royal Foundation Endeavour Fund. He obviously enjoyed himself, because after that he drove more laps in a Jaguar F-Type and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage before getting down to the business end of his charity-centred visit.

The 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype will be at Pebble Beach 2011 Yes, much of the world is labouring under an economic cloud, but that doesn’t stop the world’s wealthy car collectors bidding for very special cars such as this 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype. This particular 250 TR is something rather special – although they all are, of course – because it is one of the original prototypes for the Testa Rossa and is expected to beat the current world car auction record – around $30M for a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic – when it appears at Pebble Beach next month.
