Cylinder compression and leak-down tests were performed on each cylinder, yielding the following results: Cylinder #1: 190psi/3% leakage, Cyl. #2: 185psi/3%, Cyl. #3: 180psi/2%, Cyl. #4: 185psi/3%, Cyl. #5: 185psi/5%, Cyl. #6: 185psi/2%. The engine started and ran well during testing. The engine housing has no rubbing or cracks, and all the mounting points are intact. The oil pan and valve cover are intact and included. I'm a sucker for a four-door Alfa, and this bright red Berlina 2000 posted by our friends at Bring a Trailer has yours truly all aflutter this morning. Formerly owned by an Alfa Romeo employee in the United States, this car shows just a tick less than 89,000 original miles and wears fresh paint as of a few years ago. The seller, himself an Alfisti, claims that the gauges and mechanicals are all in correct working order, and the original factory air conditioning apparently operates as well as it did when new--which likely isn't very well, but still, it makes an interesting conversation piece.

DoE releases charging station and alterative fuel locator mobile app

Whether you drive a Tesla Model S, a Nissan Leaf, or a CNG-powered Ford F-150, there is now an app that drivers of all electric and alternative fuels will find useful. The Department of Energy has just released a mobile app version of its Alternative Fueling Statin Locator, available for download at the iTunes store, that will allow users to find public and private electric charging stations and alternative-fuel station all across the nation. The app displays different types of refueling stations, including biodiesel, CNG, electric, ethanol, hydrogen, LNG, and propane.

London cabs voted 'world's best'

LONDON has been voted the world's favourite city for taxis, as long as cabbies do not take "the scenic route". The capital topped a global list in five out of seven categories in a Hotels.com survey involving more than 2,600 respondents from 30 countries. The overall result meant London taxis were considered the world's best ahead of second-placed New York, with Tokyo third and Berlin fourth.
