Neoprene is the best way to create and shape a custom motorcycle seat. If your building a seat from scratch for a steel or fiberglass pan, covering it with neoprene is pretty easy. It shapes very well with an air grinder or even hand tools like a drywall or bodywork wrasp. The sheets I sell are 1/2 inch thick, but the great thing about neoprene is you can easily layer it up and glue it together to create different heights and shapes in the seat. It works well for thinner bobber seats or anything other type of seats such as cafe racers or 1-up or 2-up seats.

Neoprene foam is a soft, flexible and durable form-fitting sponge rubber that provides good thermal and moisture insulation. It is resistant to the Ozone, sunlight, oxidation, many chemicals and petroleum derivatives. Neoprene can resist breakdown by water and air and is able to be isolated by virtue of its unique molecular structure. Its mildew resistance makes it great for bike seats that might get wet from rain.

Other practical applications of neoprene foam other then motorcycle seats are in athletic equipment like gloves, waders, wetsuits and knee and elbow pads.

This auctions is for a peice of high quality 1/2 inch peice that is 16"x16". If you buy more then one sheet, I can combine shipping. I also sell 1/4 neoprene (good if you need 3/4 thick)
As well, if you need a custom size, I can work that out for you, just let me know when you checkout.

Could Michelin’s Active Wheel truly transform the car?

Tue, 27 Apr 2010

Cars today have evolved and been refined to an extraordinary degree, but carmakers – and car designers – are still always looking for ‘the next big thing'. Yet despite a myriad of recent technical innovations, ask the man on the street what is the problem with cars of today, and he'll likely reply along the lines of "they all look the same". Mass production processes, packaging requirements and safety and regulatory constraints are just a few of the reasons why it is hard to make a car that looks truly different.

BMW is bringing four-cylinder engines back to the U.S. market as one response to the scheduled increase in fuel-economy regulations. BMW quit selling the four-cylinders for its 3-series lineup in 1999 because of low demand, but gasoline cost only $1.14 per gallon at the time.

Ferrari 458 Italia Goodwood hillclimb video

Tue, 06 Jul 2010

The Ferrari 458 Italia starts the hillclimb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010 The Goodwood Festival of Speed wouldn’t be the same without a Ferrari or three blasting up the hillclimb or doing donuts at every given opportunity. And this year was no different with two of Ferrari’s latest on display in the form of the 458 Italia and the 599 GTO. And just like last year Ferrari were active in the Supercar Run up the hillclimb and just like last year they filmed it and sent it to us.
