General Motors says Magna's Opel bid has obstacles, RHJ's is easier to accept

General Motors Co. says a bid for Opel from Magna International faces hurdles while a rival offer from Belgian investor RHJ International would be easier to accept. Writing on GM Europe's Web site, John Smith, GM's chief negotiator for the Opel sale, says Magna's bid "contained elements around intellectual property and our Russian operations that simply could not be implemented." 600,000 speeders caught in a week

POLICE across Europe have announced they stopped and dealt with 600,000 speeding drivers across the whole of Europe in a single week. The operation took place between 14-20 April this year and the results have been released now that all 29 countries involved have processed the cases. The operation was organised by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) to tackle the problem of speeding and dangerous driving.
