I RECENTLY PURCHASED A LONG MOTHBALLED TOP FUEL INVENTORY AND PART OF IT IS THIS AUCTION, A SET O BROOKS B-2 SOLID BEAM ALUMINUM CONNECTING RODS.  THESE WERE COMMON IN TOP FUEL AND BLOWN ALCOHOL APPLICATIONS AND THIS SET CONSISTS OF 8 RODS THAT HAVE BEEN "RESIZED" OR RECONDITIONED BY BROOKS BEFORE THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, AND HAVE NOT BEEN USED SINCE THEY CAME BACK. ALL OF THE LARGE AND SMALL ENDS HAVE BEEN HONED AND CHECKED AS WELL AS THE LENGTH. THEY HAVE A STANDARD 426 HEMI ROD JOURNAL DIMENSION AND 1.156" WRIST PIN DIAMETER.  THESE ARE A GOOD LOW COST ALTERNATIVE TO BUYING NEW, BUT KEEP IN MIND THEY ARE USED CONNECTING RODS.  6.920" IS CONSIDERED A 1/16" LONG ROD (STOCK IS 6.856"). Aston to launch 'two or three Lagonda models' - Bez

Aston Martin is preparing to launch 'two or three' new Lagonda models, CEO Ulrich Bez has confirmed to CAR. In a wide-ranging interview with our European editor Georg Kacher in the new June 2011 issue, Dr Bez revealed numerous details about the plan to relaunch the Lagonda brand. The new-generation Lagondas are to include a sporty crossover, an Allroad-type crossover and a high-end luxury saloon following in the footsteps of the William Towns-designed boxy 1976 Aston Martin Lagonda, CAR understands.

VW Golf R 400 could get more than 400PS – which makes a bit of a nonsense of its name

The VW Golf R 400 (pictured) may not actually be an R 400 The Beijing Motor Show last month saw the debut of the VW Golf R 400, an extreme take on the VW Golf R with a full 400 PS (395bhp) at its disposal. When Volkswagen revealed the R 400 as a concept we did note that it looked more production-ready than concept, and it took VW less than a week to confirm that the Golf R 400 was indeed heading for production. Now, just to muddy the waters a bit (or raise expectations), VW’s R&D chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser has said that when the Golf R 400 does arrive it could well be with more than 400PS.

Vintage-photograph auction at Lime Rock to benefit teen-driver training

Photographs of racing legends from yesteryear will help the young drivers of tomorrow through an auction over Labor Day weekend at Lime Rock. Autographed vintage photos of famous drivers will be sold to benefit a charity called Survive the Drive, which educates and trains high-school drivers in the Northeast. The program helped more than 10,000 students in the 2008-09 school year.
