I RECENTLY PURCHASED A LONG MOTHBALLED TOP FUEL INVENTORY AND PART OF IT IS THIS AUCTION, A SET O BROOKS B-2 SOLID BEAM ALUMINUM CONNECTING RODS.  THESE WERE COMMON IN TOP FUEL AND BLOWN ALCOHOL APPLICATIONS AND THIS SET CONSISTS OF 8 RODS THAT HAVE BEEN "RESIZED" OR RECONDITIONED BY BROOKS BEFORE THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, AND HAVE NOT BEEN USED SINCE THEY CAME BACK. ALL OF THE LARGE AND SMALL ENDS HAVE BEEN HONED AND CHECKED AS WELL AS THE LENGTH. THEY HAVE A STANDARD 426 HEMI ROD JOURNAL DIMENSION AND 1.156" WRIST PIN DIAMETER.  THESE ARE A GOOD LOW COST ALTERNATIVE TO BUYING NEW, BUT KEEP IN MIND THEY ARE USED CONNECTING RODS.  6.920" IS CONSIDERED A 1/16" LONG ROD (STOCK IS 6.856"). LUXURY Japanese car maker Infiniti gave the UK public something to savour at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a high-octane combination of well-known faces and high-speed timed runs up the famous hill-climb. Christian Horner, team principal of Formula One team Red Bull, took turns at the wheel of the 568-horspower Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, sharing driving duties with professional racer Sébastien Buemi. Members of the public queued for access to the road-going Q50 range, which was also on offer for hill-driving duties, and some were even treated to a turn in the FX Vettel Edition: a chunky SUV with handling and performance tuned with the direct input of four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.

GM, Ford roll out protection plans for car buyers

General Motors is following Hyundai and Ford in offering protection for car buyers who lose their jobs. A plan announced Tuesday morning called Total Confidence offers up to nine payments of up to $500 each if a car buyer loses his or her job in the first 24 months after the purchase. The plan covers loans and leases.
