India's first Supercar by DC Design
Indian car customisers DC Design are to reveal a home-grown, mid-engined supercar at the Delhi Motor Show next week. DC Design might not be the first name to spring to mind when you think of car customisers, but if you just happen to be one of India’s wealthy car nuts then DC Design will probably be one of the first names you think of. From wild and slightly wacky takes on a Rolls Royce Coupe to SUV madness with the Porsche Cayenne, DC Design has pandered to the wilder flights of fancy of India’s spiritual successors to the car-mad Maharajas.
The Ford Fiesta (pictured) is still the best-selling UK car in April 2014
It’s almost become a monthly ritual to roll out yet another rise in new car sales in the UK as the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals the latest figures. And April 2014 is no different. In fact, it’s no different to the last 26 months, as that’s how long monthly figures for year on year sales have continued to rise.
Transportation Design students from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit recently presented projects done in conjunction with the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Three students were selected from the college to complete an internship: Chris Piscitelli, Sylvian Bryan and Sang Hoon Shin. They took on the challenge to design a 'functional, innovative and extreme-inspired vehicle that integrates environmental responsibility, cost efficiency and advanced steel materials.' Aside from the peripheral criteria, it is the 'extreme' theme that sticks, the brief satisfyingly encouraging students to really provoke with their imaginations. With the Challenge now in its 17th year, AISI puts its considerable resources to good use, Piscitelli, Bryan and Shin each receiving much support during their internship program, which includes producing scale models of their designs.
