A NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION PRESSURE GUAGE MADE BY WALLACE AND TIERNAN BELLEVILLE NEW JERSEY.  MODEL NO FA145 SERIAL NO 5830 B.  NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION  CONT. 28469 SERIAL 77794 AND PROPERTY # 42442 B.

ACCORDING TO A WWII FLIGHT ENGINEER THE LAST NUMBER MEANS IT WAS MADE 1942.  HE NEVER SAW ONE THIS BIG AND WHILE NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION DEVELOPED THE P-38, THIS WAS NOT A COCKPIT USE GUAGE.  SO A MYSTERY WHAT IT WAS USED FOR BUT VERY HARD AND RARE ACCORDING TO OUR RESEARCH AS WE COULD FIND NOT ONE LIKE IT. 

REFER TO THE PICTURES BUT IN GENERAL THE SIZE IS 13 1/2 ACROSS THE FACE INCLUDING THE HANGING BRACKET- 10 3/4" ACROSS THE GUAGE FACE.  ABOUT 4 1/2 " DEEP.  SCRATHED IN THE ALUMINUM FACE CIRCLE ARE THE NUMBERS m-716 )6 POSITION) AND 41490 (11 POSITION).

David E. Davis Jr., inarguably one of the deans of automotive journalism, died on Sunday, March 27, at age 80. Davis had been suffering from bladder cancer and underwent surgery a few days earlier.
