Officially the new concept will be shown for the first time on the evening of the Paris show, but details of the car have already started to leak out onto the internet. The concept is apparently a four-door super-saloon called Estoque, after the short sword matadors use to kill the bull at the end of a bullfight.

It’s been a feature on the calendar since 1982 and was originally a meet up for owners of the original Golf GTI. Milan Salone, the city's annual furniture extravaganza, sees exhibitors in their thousands take over the halls of the Fiera Milano exhibition center in the Rho district. Its sprawling physical size dwarfs any motor show, making even the maze of Frankfurt's Messe seem compact, while the list of exhibitors can be plain overwhelming. Trying to contain the creative force of nature that is the world's largest design fair in one venue simply isn't possible, either.
