Infiniti electric sports car concept (2012) teased

Infiniti has trailed a new range-extending electric sports car concept - a long way ahead of its planned debut at the 2012 Geneva motor show. The company already plans an electric Infiniti to piggyback the EV learnings from parent firm Nissan, whose Leaf is the first mainstream electric car built from scratch. But this new sports car will pack a range-extender system, with a petrol or diesel engine to charge the battery when charge gets low.

While the Mini Countryman might be destined for suburban mumsville, BMW has confirmed the new model will also terrorise the countryside in the form of the WRC Mini from 2011, with IRC champ Kris Meeke at the wheel. Officially launched at the 2010 Paris motor show in concept guise, the WRC Mini will be engineered and run by motorsport doyen Dave Richards and his Prodrive outfit, although customer packages will be available too, allowing independents to compete in the car. The 2014 Mercedes CLS is not a ‘new generation’ as Mercedes may have you believe, but more a nip and tuck. That means the outside has been tweaked with new LED headlamps as standard equipment across the range, as well as a new ‘diamond’ front grille, slightly chunkier front bumper with gaping air intakes, and tail lamps that have been given a darker, smoked look.
