The two used chrome plated Jaguar Over Riders, Overriders, Over-Riders you are bidding on are shown in the first four pictures. These were used on both the front and rear of the Jaguar MK8, MK9, MK VIII and MK IX cars from 1956-1961. They measure approximately 12 inches from top to bottom, 3 1/4 inches at their widest, are approximately 4 3/4 inches at their greatest depth and they each weigh about 2 1/2 lbs. It is possible that these over riders were used on other Jaguars of that era, but please check to be sure that it is appropriate for the car you plan to use it on. The Jaguar part number is BD9859. The chrome is in good shape for being more than 50 years old, but there are some minor dents and scratches in the plating. The pictures show a pretty good representation of the over riders. These would look decent on a driver, but if you were going to use these on a show car the dents would have to be removed and the over riders rechromed. I obtained several of these over riders for my 1957 MK VIII restoration project, got the best four rechromed and they came out beautiful. I am selling the remaining ones since they are in excess of my needs. The fifth picture shows the same kind of over riders circled in red that were on the front of my 1957 MK VIII before the repaint and picture six shows the same kind of over riders on the rear of my 1957 MK VIII circled in red after the repaint. Pictures five and six do not show the actual parts in the auction but they are for orientation purposes to show the location of these parts in a typical MK VIII or MK IX. This auction is for you if you have a driver MK VIII/IX with damaged over riders and you would like a better pair, or if you are restoring a MK VIII/IX and you are looking for a good set of core over riders to have the dents removed and replated. Land Rover OKs LRX-based small SUV for Range Rover
Wed, 11 Mar 2009Land Rover will put its striking LRX concept car, first displayed at the 2008 Detroit auto show, into production with the help of a $37.1 million grant from the British government. But in a move suggesting it will be pitched further upmarket than originally intended--against four-wheel-drive rivals such as the Audi Q5, the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLK--the LRX will reach showrooms wearing Range Rover badges. "Internal studies have shown that if we deliver the LRX to market, it would be best suited to the Range Rover brand," Land Rover boss Phil Popham said.
