New VW Golf GTD: Price from £25,285
Mon, 15 Apr 2013At £25,285 the new Golf GTD – revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last month – is just £310 more than the old model despite an increase in equipment and performance and a better specification. Looking pretty much how you’d expect a GTI Diesel to look, the GTD gets smoked LED rear lights, bi-xenons with LED running lights, two chrome tailpipes, 18″ Nogaro alloys and the slightly butch body kt which includes side skirts, butch bumpers and a roof spoiler. Inside is ‘GTI’ too with tartan trim, black roof lining, sports steering wheel and GTD-specific trim for the gear lever, trim strips and instrument cluster.
Help CAR find the best hot hatch of all time
Sun, 01 Mar 2009By Tim Pollard Motoring Issues 01 March 2009 15:00 The poll is closed, votings over click here for the latest instalment of the greatest hot hatches. You've been voting over the past fortnight for your greatest hot hatch of all time – and there are still two weeks left to influence our poll. At the time of writing, the top ten is led (perhaps curiously!) by the Saab 99 Turbo, followed by the Lancia Delta Integrale, VW Golf GTi Mk1 and Peugeot 205 GTI.
Volkswagen give the VW XL1 Ducati power
Sun, 29 Sep 2013Volkswagen give the VW XL1 Ducati power It’s more than two years since Volkswagen rolled out the VW XL1 Super Efficient Vehicle as a demonstration of how light weight and low power can make for extremely economical motoring. But the silly mpg VW quoted for the XL1 – 313mpg – comes at a fairly horrible price, with the news at Geneva this year that the XL1 is heading for limited production, but with a price tag likely to be around £100k. Bit it seems that VW has found a new use for the XL1, and this time it’s not about extreme economy but more about real performance.
