Subaru Stella Plug-in Electric Car (EV)

Fri, 05 Jun 2009

The Subaru Stella Plug-in EV goes on sale in Japan today Not designed to be anything other than a city car, the Subaru Stella has a range of around 55 miles on a full charge of its Li-ion batteries, which can be charged in about five hours from a standard socket (or in 15 minutes from a quick-charge outlet), and a has top speed of 62mph – so it really is a city-only car. Based on Subaru’s existing Stella mini-car the Stella EV is powered by a 60bhp (47kw) electric motor that delivers 125lb/ft of torque from the off. It also incorporates a regeneration system that tops up the batteries during deceleration to help the range.

Volkswagen Sharan (2010) – Video View

Sun, 07 Mar 2010

2010 VW Sharan driving footage and beauty shots below. The Geneva Motor Show has provided us with a number of debuts, one of which was the 2010 VW Sharan, Volkswagen’s first proper reworking of its full size people carrier in half a generation. VW started out the launch for the 2010 Sharan with a little visual tease last month, but we get most of the detail with the reveal of the new Sharan at Geneva this week.

Will the Toyota Prius plug-in cost much the same as a normal Prius?

Mon, 19 Sep 2011

Toyota Prius plug-in - only around £2.5k more than a regular Prius? Toyota has managed to corner the market in hybrid cars over the last decade after its remarkably prescient decision to focus on ‘Eco’ cars long before the mainstream cottoned on to the changing mood of governments – and car buyers – to the impact cars have on wallets and the environment. We won’t drag out our usual objections to the ceaseless quest for pointless ever-lower CO2 emissions, but we will instead commend the Prius for being a remarkable transport appliance, one which – if driven in a certain manner – can produce remarkable feats of economy and emit pleasingly low levels of the stuff that does real harm – NOx and Particulates.
