Shelby American to host Shelby Vegas bash
Fri, 07 Mar 2014The 2014 Shelby Vegas Bash is set to begin April 14, leading right into the 50th birthday celebration of the Mustang Club of America. “With the Shelby Vegas Bash leading into the MCA 50th birthday celebration, we're expecting this year to be bigger and better than ever,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “This will be the first opportunity to host Shelby members and enthusiasts at our new world headquarters in the heart of Las Vegas.” The Pacific Coast Team Shelby Region will start the event with a 300-mile drive from Palm Springs, Calif., to the Shelby headquarters, which will have many cars on display, along with live music and a meet and greet.
Brazilian students develop soapbox racers for Volkswagen
Wed, 18 Dec 2013Brazilian design students have competed for year-long internships at Volkswagen's Brazilian design studio by designing – and racing – soapbox cars. Established 15 years ago by Volkswagen South America design director Luiz Veiga, the Volkswagen Design Talent Contest refreshed its format for 2013 by challenging students to develop a prototype for a gravity-powered soapbox racer instead of asking for sketch and render-based proposals. According to Veiga, Volkswagen was looking for someone "capable of working away from the desk and able to create design solutions, assess and build them".
Nissan to issue recall for faulty part in tire-pressure monitoring system
Mon, 12 Oct 2009Nissan Motor Co. plans to recall as many as 143,000 cars to replace a tire-pressure monitoring system nut that may corrode and crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt, the government said today. The cracking of the nut in the monitoring system could cause it to fall out of the sensor-transmitter that it secures, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report on its Web site.
