what is a relay? -a relay is a device that allows you to control a high-current electrical load with a low-current electrical 'signal'. They are usually electro-magnetic, but are also available in solid-state forms. They can be used with a switch (to allow control of a high-current load with a small switch) or they can be hooked up to a switched power source in the car like the ignition or accessory power circuits (to allow power to be switched on/off automatically with the ignition key) Why do I need a relay? -when hooking anything up to a car's factory wiring, it's important to remember that factory wires are designed to carry the load of only the factory installed components. they are not 'general use' power circuits like the power outlets in your house. for example, the ignition (IGN) circuit is designed to power the car's ignition system and nothing else. Hooking up a high-current device to this circuit can create a fire hazard. BID TO SLOW TRAFFIC ON M3 STRETCH
Fri, 14 Feb 2014FIRST it was a stretch of the M1 and now the same speed reduction plan has been announced for a stretch of the M3 motorway in Surrey and Hampshire. The Highways Agency (HA) has proposed that a three-mile section of the M3 between junction 3 at Lightwater in Surrey and junction 4 near Farnborough in Hampshire be subject to a 60mph restriction. This section is part of a 13.4-mile stretch that is being upgraded in a £174 million scheme, with the 60mph proposal, to operate between 7am and 7pm daily so air quality levels can be met.

NHTSA investigates fuel-tank problem with 2004 Chevrolet Corvettes
Tue, 18 May 2010The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into a potentially leaky fuel-tank problem with the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette. The investigation was launched on May 12 and covers an estimated 33,000 Corvettes. There have been 30 reports from consumers alleging either leaking liquid or fuel vapor coming from a tank, NHTSA said.
