Deloitte interviews 677 'millenials,' concludes they're broke
Mon, 20 Jan 2014Until artisanal, sustainable, locally sourced craft-beer bars can upend themselves from their Brooklyn brownstones and directly to your Park Slope loft entrance, it turns out that today's youthful generation will still need to buy cars to get places. In fact, they might even be picky about what they spend time in, which means that young people, even "millennials," are doing research on cars and forming their own opinions as smart consumers. Ford invents agile, low-cost solution for prototyping, customization and limited production [w/video]
Wed, 03 Jul 2013A new metal forming technique pioneered by Ford that drastically reduces the time and cost of producing low-volume and one-off body parts may lead to cost-effective customization, redesigns, one-offs and limited production runs. Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) forms sheets of metal by two stylus-like tools, one on each side of the surface. Using CAD data they form the part to the exacting strength and finish tolerances usually associated with stamping dies.
Renaultsport Megane (2011) Nurburgring teaser video
Mon, 06 Jun 2011Renaultsport have released a teaser video, showing its development team preparing a new Renaultsport Megane for track-testing at the Nurburgring. Under the title 'Save the date: June 17', the video shows a previous-generation Renaultsport Megane R26.R in addition to the track-focused, luridly-painted current Megane. Renaultsport is believed to be preparing a harder-edged, more powerful RS Megane, to sit above the current RS250 Cup model. The current car is no slouch, winning general acclaim from CAR when it was included in our PCOTY 2011 convoy through France. But it looks like the fast Renault wizards from Dieppe have decided to send their latest car to the Nurburgring in order to attract the attention of the trackday brigade.
