In May this year, the firm became part of the VW Group, marking a new era in its growth. Built by Italian chassis developer Dallara and powered by a Nismo engine, the new 2014 Trophy racer looks likely to have impressive performance figures and, judging by Renault’s teaser picture, just as impressive styling. Adding to the racing pedigree is a 1,100kg weight, seven-speed sequential gearbox by Sadev and specially created Michelin tyres.

Unlike the Insight and Civic hybrids, the Small Hybrid Sports Concept was designed in Europe, at Honda’s Offenbach European R&D headquarters.
