Secure a boat to a trailer with the boat gunwale tie-down strap. The gunwale tie-down strap is designed to go over the center of the back half of a boat then be hooked onto both sides of a trailer to restrict vertical movement and keep the boat secure on the trailer. Includes (2) hooks that are vinyl coated to keep the trailer protected from scratches. To ensure that the boat gunwale tie-down strap is secure the strap should be tightened so there is no slack. To tighten the gunwale tie-down strap pull the loose end of the strap through the zinc alloy plated quick release buckle until there is no slack. On the back of the gunwale strap, behind the buckle, is a protective pad that keeps the buckle from scratching the boat or trailer. Features an integrated velcro strap that can be wrapped around the quick release to ensure that the buckle keeps the strap secure. Avoid placing the boat tie-down strap across sharp edges on the boat or trailer as they can rub against the straps causing them to fray and eventually break.

In a bid to improve its lineup before a fleet of new Fiat-based vehicles arrives in 2012, Chrysler Group is rushing new features and equipment into 15 reworked vehicles. The equipment, such as a Fiat dual-clutch, six-speed transmission and a new Chrysler V6, will boost fuel economy, improve driving dynamics and spiff up drab interiors, all areas in which Chrysler has fared poorly in consumer surveys. All the vehicles will be on sale by the first quarter of next year.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo for the UK gets 186hp The Hyundai Veloster Turbo – due to be revealed at Geneva next week – will get 186hp and 270NM of torque for the UK & Europe. When the Hyundai Veloster was confirmed for the UK and Europe back in November, we did say that it was likely to come with fewer horses but more torque to make it more fun to drive on European roads than the bigger horses and lower torque figures the American version gets. Now we learn that the UK and European Veloster Turbo will come packing 186hp (183bhp) – down from over 200hp in the US version – but with 270NM (199lb/ft) of torque.

The new BMW 5-series being launched this winter is likely to be the next BMW to receive the ActiveHybrid system pioneered on the petrol-electric 7-series and X6 models. BMW engineers admit they can't rely on sales of the pricey hybrid 7-series and X6 to justify the development costs, even though these range-topping halo hybrids were jointly developed with Daimler and GM. Senior sources have indicated that the new 2010 5-series will be the next BMW to get an ActiveHybrid model.
