Jaguar has started what is sure to be a long, sustained dripfeed of information on its new XE compact exec saloon ahead of a planned debut on 8 September 2014. Today's announcement reveals some of the engineering secrets of the Jaguar XE and is designed to whet the appetites of those premium car buyers ready for a change from their 3-series, A4s and C-classes. LA Motor Show: Mercedes previews fast GLA compact SUV model

MERCEDES has unveiled an almost production-ready AMG compact SUV concept with a banzai 355bhp engine. The Concept GLA 45 AMG is the German company’s vision for a rapid car to rival the upcoming Porsche Macan, which like the Mercedes was also unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Using an extremely highly-tuned four-cylinder turbocharged engine similar to that first seen in the A 45 AMG hatchback, the GLA 45 AMG produces enough muscle to fire itself to 62mph in ‘less than five seconds’, according to Mercedes.

Denmark's Zenvo ST1 supercar lurks at the Geneva Auto Show

Zenvo launched the first ST1 about two and a half years ago and has sold “five, about” since then, though the company's press material lists only two sales. Founded by a Dane and headquartered just outside Copenhagen, the world's only Danish supercarmaker has since been bought by a Russian oligarch. The Zenvo ST1 is designed, engineered and manufactured completely by Zenvo, which even made the engine.
