The new Land Rover DC100 concept car, ready for a 2011 Frankfurt motor show arrival - points to the company's planned replacement for the Defender 4x4. Land Rover has now confirmed officially that it'll launch a successor to the Defender in 2015, and the DC100 provides plenty of clues to what we could expect. We have official video of the Aston Martin Rapide from Valencia Back at the start of February Aston Martin flew the world’s media to Valencia to party with the new Aston Martin Rapide. Even though Cars UK didn’t get an invite we decided to shove up a review of the Rapide covering what we knew from all the bumph Aston Martin had sent us and the opinions we’d formed from seeing the car. It wasn’t sour grapes – although it would have been nice to be asked – but looking at the reviews written by those who went on the ‘Jolly’ we were pretty much on the money.

By James Mullan Motor Industry 07 February 2007 09:21 A rare 1939 Auto Union Type D grand prix car is tipped to tear up the record books this month when it goes under the hammer – for an estimated price of up to £7.8 million. Auto Union developed the Type D racing car with a mid-mounted 3.0-litre 12-cylinder engine; in 1939, it was modified with the addition of a twin supercharger, increasing power 420bhp to 460bhp – enough for a top speed of 205mph. This particular car won the French and Yugoslavian Grand Prix in 1939, but at the end of the Second World War it was transported from East Germany to the former Soviet Union by Russian occupation forces as spoils of war.
