Almost 1 million cars made in UK this year
Thu, 21 Aug 2014CAR MANUFACTURING accelerated ahead last month, according to official figures. A total of 132,570 cars were made in the UK in July 2014 - a 2.8% rise on the figure for July 2013, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said. Last month's total took the year-to-date figure to 923,884 - a 3.4% increase on the total for the first seven months of last year.

A day or two of furtling around and we were able to report a week later that Koenigesegg were indeed taking something new to Geneva – the Koenigsegg Agera. The Agera duly turned up at Geneva in March and the last year has seen a number of orders for Ageras, although so far – to the best of our knowledge – just two Ageras have been delivered.
Parents 'taxi drivers' for their children

A new survey claims that the average mum and dad clocks up around 30 miles a week ferrying their youngster to school, to clubs and to see friends, spending around three-and-a-half hours in the car. It means that the average parent racks up around 26,741 miles driving their child around between the ages of three and 20, and spends around 3,147 hours behind the wheel, according to Goodyear, which commissioned the poll.
