One Lap of the Web: Packards -- Ask the man who knows way too much about one

-- For some light Wednesday reading, here's more information than you ever wanted to know about Packard. It includes the horrible neoclassics that plagued the 1970s, and the 1995 revival of the Packard name that attempted to stick a shortened rendition of the famous Packard grille in front of a 440-hp V12, all wrapped in a shape that looked like a melted Twix, as shown above. Subaru BRZ Turbo to get 280bhp

The much hoped for Subaru BRZ Turbo – the Subaru version of the Toyota GT86 – is set to arrive in 2014 with 280bhp. Last year we reported that a Subaru BRZ Turbo was in the planning (even though the official line was that the BRZ and GT86 would stick with natural aspiration) and now it looks like development is well advanced and the BRZ Turbo will arrive in 2014. Automotive News are reporting that Subaru are working hard on a turbocharged direct injection version of the BRZ with a single twin-scroll turbo they’ve developed in-house, as opposed to the port injection system currently used in the BTZ, which is a Toyota system.

O'Sullivan unhurt after supercar crash

SNOOKER ACE Ronnie O'Sullivan escaped unscathed from a car crash as he travelled home from defeat in the Dafabet World Championship final. The five-times world champion and his six-year-old son, Ronnie Jnr, were travelling in a two-seater Audi R8 sports car when it spun out of control on the M1 near Leicester at around 1.30am. Neither suffered serious injuries but they were understood to have been left "shaken" after pulling themselves out of the wreckage.
