Driven: Cadillac XTS

In the light of the new, global-focused ATS and hot-off-the-press CTS sedans, the full-sized, US-centric Cadillac XTS is somewhat of an anomaly in the new Caddy clan. It's been earmarked as a stopgap flagship before a proper rear-wheel drive challenger to the Mercedes S-class and Lexus LS comes on stream. Brabus unveils 850-hp grocery getter

It wouldn't be the Essen Motor Show without German tuning house Brabus introducing its own versions of one or two of Mercedes-Benz cars, with borderline-unbelievable power figures. And this year the Bottrop-based outfit didn't disappoint, rolling out the Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo based on the 2014 E63 AMG station wagon. For starters, Brabus has increased the V8 engine's displacement from 5,461cc to 5,912cc, installing custom-made forged pistons and a precision balanced billet crankshaft, and replacing the stock turbos with ones of their own design featuring larger compressor units.

The Ford S-Max and Galaxy get a facelift - and new engines - for 2010 Ford have been having a play with the Galaxy and the S-Max, and have revealed a facelift for 2010 but, more importantly, the Ecoboost engines. The new Ecoboost engine does that great trick of offering more power for less emissions and decent economy. The new 2,0 litre model – badged up as the STCi – manages to deliver 200bhp and 221lb/ft of torque which gives a 0-60mph of not a lot over 8 seconds, an improvement of around 2.0 seconds on the outgoing 2.3 litre.
