Jaguar supercars
Tue, 29 Jul 2008By Tim Pollard 29 July 2008 09:00 Luxury saloon specialist Jaguar has one genuine supercar contender under its belt, CAR would postulate. The XJ220 was born at the height of the supercar boom – but suffered the market collapse, and never really received the recognition it deserves. An interesting curio, nevertheless Make and model Year Price Engine 0-60mph Top speed 1992 £415,000 3498cc V6, 542bhp, 475lb ft 3.9sec 217mph For Held the production-car speed record for a couple of years at 217mph Against Like the Diablo, never gained much credibility.
New Rolls Royce Wraith on the road (video)
Wed, 12 Jun 2013The new Rolls Royce Wraith hits the road The new Rolls Royce Wraith – revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March – is Rolls Royce’s answer to the sport credentials of Bentley, and it’s a convincing effort. Essentially a Ghost Coupe, the Wraith’s styling is, perhaps, a little jarring with its almost dog humping back end, but from some angles it also looks remarkably elegant for a two door coupe that’s the size of a delivery truck. But the key to the Wraith’s appeal – apart from the sumptuous fixtures and fittings – is its dynamism and power, with 624bhp on tap from its v12 (and an earth-turning 590lb/ft of torque too) enough to shift the Wraith to 60mph in a very un-Rolls Royce 4.4 seconds.
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
Tue, 04 Mar 2008By Ben Barry Motor Shows 04 March 2008 20:35 What’s new on the Lamborghini stand? The Gallardo LP560-4. The 560 stands for the 560ps (552bhp) that’s come courtesy of the all-new 5.2-litre V10 engine (previously 5.0-litre and 520bhp – and 20kg heavier), the 4 relates to the four-wheel drive system that usually splits torque 30/70 front-to-rear.
