Here we have a 1928 model 51 Brougham Buick Master six five passenger sedan..  This is the Master Six built on the longest wheelbase available at the time. 128 inches. Only 10,254 of these were produced making it far rarer than it's 115 or 120 inch counterparts. She is mostly all there, missing headlights running boards and grille shell.  Stored indoors untill I got her this summer.  Thought I would have an indoor spot for the build but that has changed and rather than just let it sit I thought i will just pass it on.  I did remove the doors and store them away inside because the wood is very good in them still. Wood for most of the rest of the car will need to be replaced.  Sheetmetal is nearly completely rust free, straight with only a few minor dings here and there.  Still wearing a fairly nice tuxedo black paint job that is very presentable. My plan was to not even repaint, just do the wood and the top.  Mechanically the car is all there, brakes work and are not all stuck, wheels are in fairly nice shape and though it will obviously need new tires they do still all hold air.  Previous owner stated that the motor did run aprox 2 years ago however it is locked up and will not move in either direction, i suspect this to be a bearing failure or cam/crank gear failure as I took a peek down the spark plug holes with a bore scope and the cylinder walls looked  nice and shiny.  no signs of water intrusion or corrosion whatsoever. Will work with buyer to arrange transport anywhere.

Teen driving: Can computers teach us to drive?

Thu, 03 Sep 2009

Can technology help us do a better job of training novice drivers? Note the term "novice," which is coming to replace "teen" as the focus of national concern about inexperienced drivers. This stems in part from graduated driver licensing (GDL) laws that have pushed up the age of new drivers and is partially a reflection of recent studies showing that it's not just newly licensed drivers, but all inexperienced drivers younger than 25 who are at higher risk of death or injury in car crashes.

The Infiniti M35 Hybrid - due to launch in 2011 The M35 Hybrid is based on the Infiniti M which was revealed recently at Pebble Beach. It will feature a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine coupled to an electric motor by a clutch, which means the drive goes through the propshaft to the rear wheels whatever mix of power source is being used. The M35 Hybrid is a mild hybrid, with the electric motor being used to boost the petrol engine when maximum power is called for, as well as charging the battery and recovering energy that would otherwise be lost under braking and acceleration.
