John Hennessey unwinds modified Chevy SS

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

Perhaps it's not as impressive as John Hennessey's recent 200mph blast down Houston's new Grand Parkway in a warmed-up Stingray, but we figured we'd show you his latest run down the same road in a Chevrolet SS equipped with his company's HPE600 Supercharged package. Thanks to GM's engineers, the four-door hits its top speed of 163 in 5th, rather than 6th, but what impressed us the most was watching the numbers climb on the VBOX — the car pulls John-Bonham-hard all the way up to its top speed. Hennessey hasn't released details of the mods performed on the SS yet, but we're anxious to see what this anodyne-looking monster will do on the top end once the gearing nag's sent off to the glue factory.

OFFICIAL: Jaguar F-Type Coupe Los Angeles debut

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

The Jaguar F-Type Coupe (pictured) will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show The Jaguar C-X16 – the first look we had at the F-Type – was revealed two years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and despite the F-Type Roadster arriving at the Paris Motor Show last year we still haven’t had the debut of the F-Type Coupe. But now Jaguar are finally ready to reveal the production version of the F-Type Coupe. It looks like Jaguar have planned a reveal for the F-Type Coupe similar to the one Land Rover did for the new Range Rover Sport – when Daniel Craig drove the new Sport across New York ahead of the opening of the show – as they tell us the F-Type Coupe will arrive on the eve of the Los Angeles Show.

Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel to go in to production Finally, Infiniti are ramping up their efforts to get their cars front and centre in Europe. Last week we learnt Infiniti would be tapping in to Nissan’s Corporate sales network and now we hear that theĀ Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel is going in to production as a pilot for the Infiniti performance Line (IPL). IPL will be to Infiniti what AMG is to Mercedes or ‘M’ is to BMW – the halo performance car sat at the top of the range.
