Will the Maserati Kubang SUV arrive as the Maserati Cinqueporte The idea of a Maserati SUV may be anathema to many, but it’s a reality, as we saw at Frankfurt last month with the public debut of the Maserati Kubang. The Kubang moniker is a re-use of a Maserati concept name from a few years ago, but it’s an ugly name nonetheless. But it may not be the name Maserati actually uses on its SUV.

Chevrolet will show this new baby SUV called the Trax at the 2012 Paris motor show, before UK sales start in spring 2013. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Chevrolet showed a concept car called Trax at the New York auto show in 2007. The LHD only Polo R WRC Street gets the 4WD platform Audi has developed for the A1 together with a 2.0 litre TSI producing 220bhp, delivered to all four wheels through a six-speed manual ‘box, enough to scoot the Polo R WRC to 62mph in 6.4 seconds – quicker than the Golf GTi.
