Up for auction is a very nicely restored Arvin heater. It was originally an aftermarket heater made for any car or truck. Arvin made a lot of these heaters, but this one in particular is a little different. It has a wider, larger core with one more row for much better heating. It also has one more trim piece around the body for good looks. The switch is a really neat piece. As show in the pictures, the switch lights up when it is turned on, illuminating the redish white knob so it can be seen after dark. The switch is set up for reostat (variable speed) so the more it is turned to the right, the slower the blower turns. As you turn the knob, the light gets dimmer.
About the restoration,
All steel pieces were bead blasted, primed, then painted. The color of the body is hammered gold, the body trim is hammered silver, the plate behind the switch is chrome, and the motor and core are gloss black. The motor is the original 6 VOLT and was disassembled, cleaned and rewired using the original type cloth braided wire. The core was tested at 22 lbs and was rinsed. The switch was taken apart and contacts were cleaned.
The real beauty about this heater is the switch is mounted on the body and is already wired. This takes care of having to find the correct switch and backing plate and wire it up to another heater. It also has defroster ducts which pump out a lot of air, which is nice on a humid rainy day when the glass fogs up. If you have any questions or other heater needs, please let me know. Light, fast and enormously desirable, the F1 has been a stunning success story.
