1932 1936 1940 1948 Ford Merc Nu Trans Shafts & O-rings on 2040-parts.com
Porter Ranch, California, US
This buy it now sale is for the NEW 1932 THROUGH 1948 FORD AND MERCURY TRANSMISSION SHAFTS THAT ARE MODIFIED TO ACCEPT O-RINGS as shown. These two hardened steel shafts are used to support the cluster gear and reverse idler gear on all these Ford Motor Company three speed transmissions. Most of these transmissions leak oil because your present shafts fit loosely in the supporting case holes. For years Ford owners have been trying to seal these holes with different kinds of adhesives with little success. The perfect high tech solution is here with new shafts machined for o-rings which guarantee a perfect seal with no ugly adhesive showing. There are two sets of o-rings provided and they are made of "viton" which is able to resist oil and grease forever. The installation is simple. Make sure the case holes have no sharp edges. Install the longer shaft in the case with the rear o-ring only and push forward until exposing the cut for the front o-ring then carefully install this front o-ring and back the shaft into the final position. The smaller shaft is installed with only a rear o-ring in the same manner. The final step is to pour some very thin oil into the case and tilt the case up and check that there is no leakage. If you did not damage the o-rings during installation there will be absolutely no leakage. In the unlikely event that one o-ring has been damaged you can replace it with a spare o-ring provided and test again. This way you know when the transmission is installed in the car that it will not leak. These parts are in perfect new condition as can be seen in the photo. Here is your chance to put these pieces on your shelf so they will be there the next time you need to service your transmission. I can ship these shafts anywhere in the USA for $8.15 using the post office flat rate box. International bidders please contact me for an estimate on shipping costs. Packard 1108 Twelve wins Pebble Beach concours
Mon, 19 Aug 2013The 1934 Packard 1108 Twelve that won the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in a perfect coat of dark green paint was once a lowly taxi cab prowling the streets of Puerto Rico in roughly applied red and orange livery. "A gentleman named Ricardo Ricasta bought it in New York in 1934 and the car returned to Ricasta's original home in Puerto Rico for a while," owner Joseph Cassini said. "When he passed away and the family had no interest in the car, it became a taxi cab for a while." Imagine hailing a cab in downtown San Juan and this magnificent Packard rolls up.
