Video: Corvette ZR1's record Nurburgring lap

Wed, 16 Jul 2008

By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 16 July 2008 09:00 With a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 pumping out 620bhp and 607lb ft and only needing to push 1519kg, the Corvette ZR1 was never being to be slow. But few people outside of General Motors could have expected the ZR1 to lap the Nurburgring faster than a Nissan GT-R. Well, the ZR1 has just blitzed the GT-R’s time by nearly four seconds, clocking a 7:26.4 lap time.

Puegeot win at Le Mans – Audi third

Mon, 15 Jun 2009

Peugeot drivers celebrate their 1-2 at Le Mans The winning Peugeot (#9) was driven by Alexander Wurz, David Brabham and Marc Gene, whilst second place was taken by Sébastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazinin in car #8, just one lap behind, and five laps in front of Audi’s #1 car driven by Allan McNish, Rinaldo Capello and Tom Kristensen. In fact, the Audi car #1 (the other Audi entries had fallen by the wayside) finished just one lap ahead of Lola Aston Martin’s #007 car. The usual racing excuses were out in full, with Audi claiming that the cancellation of the traditional testing day this year meant they were unable to set up the R15 TDI properly in time for the race (Peugeot seemed to manage to get the 908s ready!).

Chrysler 200C Revealed

Wed, 13 Oct 2010

The Chrysler 200C - replacement for the Sebring Although the Chrysler Sebring is a car you can actually pop off to your dealer and buy in the UK, a chunk of readers on this side of the Pond will know it best from trips to the US as the ugly lump of iron they got lumbered with at the car rental desk. The Sebring was unloved by car hacks and the motoring public alike; it mixed poor design with poor looks, a poor drive and a poor interior to make for less than dynamic sales. So when Chrysler tipped up to the Detroit Motor Show in 2009 with a 200C Concept it seemed clear that was what was coming to oust the Sebring.
