College Exhibition: Royal College of Art - Connections
Fri, 01 Jun 2007First year Vehicle Design students at the Royal College of Art were given a brief to develop a car that would achieve universal individual mobility for people of all ages living in rural environments. Using intelligent systems technology, new materials and means, and retaining high standards of sustainability, the students were asked: what are the vehicles for tomorrow's countryside? Five different groups consisting of three students devised several very different proposals to answer this question.
Ford S-Max and Galaxy (2010) first official pictures
Tue, 15 Dec 2009Ford today whisks the covers off updated versions of the S-Max and Galaxy, fresh for launch in 2010. The MPV duo will be shown publicly for the first time at that most Eurocratic of motor shows, the 2010 Brussels expo. The facelifts may look mild, but Ford's European design boss Martin Smith says there are more than 1700 new parts, including sheet metal changes. He says the changes are designed to 'give them a fresh new look and more premium appeal.' Both MPVs gain fresh bonnets, grilles, facias and LED tail lights.
VW announces Mk6 Golf prices
Mon, 20 Oct 2008By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 20 October 2008 12:17 VW has released prices for the new Mk6 Golf, but while the new car was rushed into production to cut costs, none of these savings seem to have been passed onto the consumer – the base 1.4 S now starts at £13,150 – £870 more than the Mk5 entry-level Golf. Along with a 79bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine, an entry level S model comes with a decent level of equipment to help offset the price increase. As standard there's ABS, ESP, seven airbags, air-con, heated and electric mirrors, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, plus a CD/radio.
