Here is an original radio for most 1936 MOPAR cars: Plymouth/Dodge/DeSoto.  These were sometimes installed at the factory but often appear to be a dealer installed accessory.  This unit installs up under the dash on the firewall.  There would have been included  (as chosen by the car owner) the radio control head in the dash with control cables from the radio head down to this radio box.  This radio box includes the radio's speaker.  Car owner would likely then also have chosen the most correct knobs available for the radio which would be the best match for the instrument design and maybe upholstery color.

NOTE THAT THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE ONLY (CHOICE) (1) of the (3) Control Heads pictured.  You will pick Plymouth/Dodge or DeSoto radio head for your application after winning the bid for this radio combination set.  Most 1936 Chrysler cars used a completely different radio control head, often referred to as "cathedral" and we don't have any of those available.  Have only seen a couple of those sold in many years and those were around $1200-$1500 so not many around.  Also we don't know just which Chrysler cars might have used the simpler Control Head like in this listing.  Anyone with information would be welcome to share info.  Look possibly to another of our listings for
Condition of this radio box is as good of condition of many we have or have had on our shelved large MOPAR radio collection.  Outside of box has some deteriorated paint and scratching.  Local/Distant switch works OK.   It often takes more than one of these old radios to complete the restoration of one good radio.  This radio box is practically unmolested since original in its condition now, appearing maybe to only have been opened for our inspection.  Guaranteed only that it will have to be electronically rebuilt, that is new caps, maybe even needing replacement tubes or even the vibrator, etc.  It really could use new cloth material replacement for the speaker face area.  Radio's playing operation was not tested by us at all.
NOTE THAT THIS LISTING INCLUDES "NO" knobs.  You will have to find knobs that match your interior.  Condition of all 3 face plates shown for winner's choice is very nice metal condition, radio faces need repainted (thinned-scratched paint) (Dodge was wood-grain finished- faded), head is complete with wires, bulb socket, inline fuse end, etc. with all cables working smoothly, the on/off switch works OK and the dial moves correctly/smoothly when turning the tuning knob.  I find no dents in these radio face plates.
E-Mail questions.  PayPal available and required by from bid winner outside the U.S.A.  Winner pays $31.00 USPS Parcel S&H and $4.00 Insurance within Continental U.S.A.  Outside the U.S.A. e-Mail with complete delivery address (not just country) for shipping calculation.  We always try to combine shipment of multiple purchases to help save the bidder on shipping costs but this is quite heavy and may require this radio set to be shipped separately, depending on what else might be purchased.  Returns only allowed for items delivered not as described in the listing.
NOTE: That Buy-It-Now includes Insured Shipping within Continental U.S.A. a new antenna and an antenna adapter from old to new style antenna terminal.
NOTE:  NO ANTENNA is included with this radio if not bought with Buy-It-Now.  Look possibly to another of our listings for a good matching antenna.

Has this artist created forms that genuinely visualize dynamic design?

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

German artist Felix Deimann explores abstract shapes in his latest animation, creating a work that's full of inspiring forms. While it’s common for car designers to talk up how dynamic their designs are, and how they've been inspired by anything from a swimming shark to a fighter jet, this work is far more authentic in its visualization of movement. His thesis takes its name from the Olympic motto 'Citius, Altius, Fortius,' which is Latin for Faster, Higher, Stronger.

GM posts $7.6 billion profit for 2011

Thu, 16 Feb 2012

General Motors on Thursday posted a $7.6 billion profit for 2011, while recording its smallest quarterly profit of the year in the fourth quarter. Net income for the October-through-December period fell 7 percent from the year-earlier period to $472 million, as a $562 million loss in Europe--the steepest of the year there--weighed on the automaker's bottom line. North American earnings nearly doubled.
