Pininfarina Duettottanta concept (w/ Gallery)
Tue, 02 Mar 2010Pininfarina today revealed the Duettottanta concept, an homage to Alfa Romeo on its 100th birthday. The Duettottanta concept showcases a simple but modern design aesthetic that is a "fluid interpretation of what a spider should be," Design Director Lowie Vermeersch told Car Design News. "It evokes the feeling of wanting to take it for a drive..." Read more about the two-seat concept car and see our own unique photos in our 2010 Geneva Motor Show highlights.
Could Michelin’s Active Wheel truly transform the car?
Tue, 27 Apr 2010Cars today have evolved and been refined to an extraordinary degree, but carmakers – and car designers – are still always looking for ‘the next big thing'. Yet despite a myriad of recent technical innovations, ask the man on the street what is the problem with cars of today, and he'll likely reply along the lines of "they all look the same". Mass production processes, packaging requirements and safety and regulatory constraints are just a few of the reasons why it is hard to make a car that looks truly different.
MINI compares Classic Mini to Porsche 911
Thu, 06 Jun 2013The Classic Mini & Classic Porsche 911 A comparison between the classic Mini and the Porsche 911 may not be the most obvious, but that hasn’t stopped MINI jumping on the 911′s 50th anniversary year with a comparison between the two iconic cars. MINI assert that the similarities between the classic Mini and the 911 are based on their ‘Forever Young’ ethos (which is, in no small part, down to the fact both are still clearly similar to the original design) and their performance. The Mini arrived before the 911 – Mini in 1959, 911 in 1963 – but both turned the car world on its head with a delightful turn of design, speed and appeal, with the original Mini ending up selling 5.3 million and the, still continuing, 911 starting to close in on a million sales.
