BMW brings Art Car Exhibition to life
Tue, 12 Jul 2011Since 1975 BMW has had a strong connection with renowned artists from around the world. The famous Art Car series has, to date, seen 17 cars transformed from generic racers into unique, moving canvases. For the first time, an extensive virtual tour documenting the history of the cars and their creators has been produced. Each car has an extensive back catalogue of images and a short film, which serve to show the variety of the ‘works of art on wheels'.
Concept Car of the Week: Alfa Romeo BAT 7
Fri, 31 Aug 2012This week sees the Concept of the Week title go to Alfa Romeo and Bertone for their collaboration on the Alfa Romeo BAT 7, the second addition to the BAT series that began in 1953 and finished in 1955. First seen at the 1954 Turin motor show, this wildly futuristic ‘dream' car came about after Alfa Romeo contacted Giuseppe "Nuccio" Bertone of the Bertone carrozeria to commission three concepts with the lowest possible drag coefficient. The cars were named BAT for "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica." Built upon the Alfa Romeo 1900 chassis, the BAT cars featured large rear bumpers and curved fins, and the concepts achieved a drag coefficient of just 0.19 - an impressive result.

Mercedes-Benz has released a short video and sketches previewing the all new GLA before its Frankfurt motor show debut in just a few weeks. With BMW's X1 and Range Rover's Evoque breathing down Mercedes-Benz's neck, we knew it was only a matter of time before Mercedes-Benz rolled out a compact crossover of its own.
