1940 Mercury Hood & Trunk Mercury Eight Hardware

You are looking at a trunk & hood size Mercury Eight 1940 only emblem.  This will be a good "wall hangar".  Or, it can be chrome plated for use on the car.  It is in good overall condition for that.  Please note the pics showing a degree of the pitting on the letters.  The buyer will probably want to either have it plated, or sand down the letters and paint it with new chrome paint they have now.  Note that the attaching posts are there and in good condition.

Please see my other listings for other vintage items. I am selling off the majority of my 50+-year collection, so bookmark me as I am constantly adding new items including interesting and rare vintage car parts and accessories, vintage car memorabilia (especially Mobil), 1940 Mercury items, vintage toys and gas-related water transfer decals for restoration projects - Mobil, Shell, Texaco and Gilmore available. Payment within 10 days of auction end please. Please include item number, description, and invoice with payment other than PayPal. Listed shipping cost is for shipping within the U.S. ONLY. If you are an International buyer, please contact me for shipping cost before paying. We will send you the correct shipping amount for your country on your invoice. Sorry, we cannot control how long it takes the USPS or another shipper to get your package to you. Once it leaves our hands, it's up to their services. We cannot ship to a P.O. Box so please provide a street address for shipping. Thank You!

Petersen Museum gets new chair

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Peter Mullin, a car guy with excellent taste and the means to do something about it, has become chairman of the board of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Lucky place, the Petersen. Mullin's vice-chairs, who will help lead the museum into the 21st century, are uber car guys Bruce Meyer and David Sydorick, both longtime supporters of the institution.
