Here is a complete Front Floorboard for 1942 1946 1947 1948 or 1949 Chrysler and DeSoto (maybe but not likely Dodge).  It is in completely sand-blasted condition with only extremely lightest rust remaining deep in some areas which has occurred from shelf life since sand-blast; but any remaining rust is insignificant.  There are a few very small internal places where there was some actual rust-thru - showing in the pictures   There is no rust-thru at the outer perimeter or around any of the mount or access holes.  Nut plates have been cleared of the bolts and threads are in good usable condition.  I could guess that a little "liquid steel" or light fiber-glass coating would permanently take care of any rust-thru.  Includes the accelerator pedal clamp where it bolts to the floorboard.  Access HOLE COVERS are NOT included so you will need to use your originals, find others or fabricate covers - should not be difficult.  We have not found any access covers provided by current re-manufacturers of this model of floorboard.

Over a couple of years ago one of the fabricators for these kinds of floor panels told me that they would fabricate one of these for me for free if I could supply a good original pattern for them to make the part.  I had no pattern then and have found one and also this 2nd board in our search since, and only need one for our 1948 Traveler (Windsor) project.  So this is a difficult part to find in any condition, for sure nearly impossible to find with this much nearly complete original metal.  They must have found a pattern since the offer to me about using my pattern.
This is a little better condition than the floor panel we are going to use in the Traveler, so giving the buyer best choice of the two we have on hand.  These came from 6-cylinder Windsor cars, one a 2-door coupe and one from a 4-door sedan; and they appear absolutely identical, so we can assume should fit any of the 6-cylinder vehicles.  Listings show these to be the same for 8-cylinder Chrysler and DeSoto as well but we have no experience with this part from 8-cylinder MOPAR vehicles.  Possible for Dodge but rather doubt it could be used for Dodge without major adaptation.  We have not found this panel by part number in any of our references so can't provide the P/N.
Their new replacements are presently listed at or way above $300 and they are claimed to need some modification and are not an exact match.  With this original you get a near perfect part for your restoration, needing only a little refined repair but very little additional work.   So far the shipping charge is a guess.  Might be able to ship with just the perimeter protected but likely will require actual cardboard sides.  As it is not painted, should not go too far without protection until new owner can repair holes and make ready for final paint.  Might require a little additional glass-beading before finally ready for paint but probablyi not necessary with use of good etching primer.  Greyhound a good possibility for shipment.  Any shipping suggestions are very welcome.
E-Mail questions.  PayPal available and required by me from bid winner outside the U.S.A.  Winner pays $70.00 USPS S&H and $5.00 Insurance within Continental U.S.A.  If we can get shipped for significantly less in the U.S., I'll be glad to refund any shipping charge difference.  Outside the U.S. e-Mail with complete delivery address (not just country) for shipping calculation.  We always try to ship multiple parts together to save the bidder on shipping cost but this might require single item shipment.  Returns only allowed for items delivered not as described in the listing.

Citroen C3 Picasso: Citroen recall 20k to stop the passenger braking

Citroen C3 Picasso Brake Recall - passengers can control the brakes My dad, who was at one point in his career a police driving instructor, could never be just a passenger in a car,  whoever was driving. As a passenger he did everything he did with his feet when he was driving. And with his eyes.

Ferrari Enzo successor to make 920 hp

Fri, 17 Feb 2012

About a decade and a half after Porsche eschewed its lightness-and-small-displacement strategy and built a five-liter sports racer to take down Ferrari at Le Mans, a different sort of war kicked off between the two marques: a battle for supremacy in the super-supercar market. In 1984, Ferrari built a radically modified twin-turbo 308 GTB with an eye toward Group B road-racing rules. Porsche countered the resultant 288 GTO with the mighty 959, which launched at about the same time as the 288's successor, the practically skeletal and infinitely loopier F40.

Nissan X-Trail: news and photos of 2010 facelift

Tue, 03 Aug 2010

The most inconspicuous facelift award could be a hotly contested category if it existed. Vying for contention, for a second successive generation, would be this: the Nissan X-Trail. Over its 10-year cycle on the roads of Britain, the X-Trail has been subjected a minor nip-tuck facelift and even a complete makeover in 2007.
