HPP turns Challenger into Superbird
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Those of you pining for the high-winged days of the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird can open up your checkbooks and make one payable to Heide Performance Products out of Madison Heights, Mich. The company can turn any Dodge Challenger into a '70s-inspired pavement burner, though they leave the actual pavement-burning modifications up to you: the Superbird/Daytona kit is an appearance upgrade only. The full kit comes with a nose cone assembly ($5,999), three-piece wing ($2,499), functional Shaker hood and scoop ($2,499), rear aluminum louvers ($899), HPP Challenger hood pins ($179), Daytona or Superbird taillight overlays ($189), fender gills ($89), pistol-grip shift lever ($149) and rear diffuser ($1,299), or a total of $13,800.
2014 Porsche Panamera gets new hybrid
Wed, 03 Apr 2013The Porsche Panamera has been restyled and the lineup gains a plug-in hybrid model, along with a new twin-turbo V6 for the Panamera S and 4S models that is more powerful than the former base V8. Also, Porsche is adding a stretched version of the Panamera with 5.9 inches added to the wheelbase for additional rear-seat legroom. The restyled Panamera goes on sale in the United States late this year as a 2014 model.
Classic BMW takes Best of Show at Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance
Mon, 07 Nov 2011A 1937 BMW 328 Roadster owned by Lothar Schuettler of Darnestown, Md., took Best of Show honors at the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance. The Sunday concours, which had BMW as the honored marque, wrapped up a weeklong event that included the Savannah Speed Classic vintage races in nearby Savannah, Ga., a tour around Hilton Head by concours entrants, a Motoring Midway and a Car Club Jamboree on Saturday featuring exhibits from car clubs from around the country. The 328 Roadster was first owned by German race driver Baron Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and is one of only 18 cars that were painted black that year.
