Here is restored (glass beaded and repainted black) Glove Box Hinge Assembly for 1946 thru very early 1949 Chrysler.  Might apply to other years 1940 1941 1942 or other cars such as Dodge or DeSoto but probably only 1946-49 Chrysler Glove Box.  Parts Books only show listing for entire Hinge Assembly, though you can disassemble them by bending a tab and extracting the hinge rod - the only way to remove or replace a broken spring.  But, as they were apparently only sold as an "assembly",  we have found no listing for only the spring.  This spring is intact and in excellent condition.  This is screw-in ready but would advise that it be lubricated in the hinge shaft before application for smoothest operation when installed.  We won't apply lube before shipment.  Often these are offered for sale with a broken spring, so check one out before purchasing for a working spring.

E-Mail questions.  PayPal available and required by me from bid winner outside the U.S.A.  Winner pays $6.00 USPS Parcel S&H and $2.00 Insurance within Continental U.S.A.  Outside the U.S. e-Mail with complete delivery address (not just country) for shipping calculation.  Returns only allowed for items delivered not as described in the listing.  We always try to combine shipment of multiple purchases to help the bidder save on shipping cost.

Recall is last linked to fire hazard, Ford says

Wed, 14 Oct 2009

Ford Motor Co.'s new recall of vehicles that pose potential fire hazards will be its last because the latest action covers all remaining cars and trucks with cruise-control switches made by Texas Instruments, even if those switches don't pose safety risks, a Ford spokesman said today. "We did this to reassure customers and make sure there will be no future actions connected to this," spokesman Wes Sherwood said in an interview. "We've gone to extra lengths to include both vehicles with risks and those that don't show risk." Yesterday, Ford announced a recall of 4.5 million vehicles--its eighth in the past decade involving cars and trucks with faulty cruise-control deactivation switches.

Jeep's small SUVs will use Fiat-supplied platforms starting in 2013, Jeep brand CEO Mike Manley said on Wednesday. Jeep will eliminate the Patriot and Compass crossovers after 2012 and replace them with a single C-segment vehicle whose platform will originate with Fiat Group. Jeep also will introduce a B-segment small SUV in 2013 with a Fiat platform.
