And while the "rules" are still being written when it comes to what's acceptable in a restoration, there are clear favorites, with austerity and originality typically valued over luxury. As nostalgia for the trucks of the 1950s increases, so do the amounts collectors are willing to pay for the workhorses of yesteryear.

In fact, when we  reviewed the Hyundai Veloster a couple of years ago with its 1.6 litre petrol engine, we wondered if Hyundai would have been better giving the Veloster a diesel lump instead, which would at least have made its paucity of power less of a problem with more torque to play with. And the Veloster Turbo isn’t a huge amount better, only offering 184 bhp and taking 8.4 seconds to get to 62mph; figures we would have expected from the base Veloster if it were to be a properly credible competitor in the sector.

Aston Martin Sale: InvestIndustrial (& AMG) look to have won

It looks like the sale of a chunk of Aston Martin is going to InvestIndustrial, promising Mercedes AMG technology for AML. Just last week, Aston Martin finally confirmed the the Kuwait Investment Dar was looking to off-load a chunk of its shareholding in AML. And now it looks like a deal is done.
