Vintage. Used. Looks near complete. Did not try to start it. Please see photos and read description.
Brand:Spiegel Country/Region of Manufacture:United States Engine(HP):5 cylinders:2 Stroke:2 Age:vintage 1950's

Here is a nice vintage Outboard Motor.  Very nicely marked "Spiegel Brooklure Chicago." on front of cover (photo #6), and marked "5 HP Brooklure 500 Model 230-51-5D"  on tag (photo #7).

This was made in early 1950's from what I found it was probably between 1951 and 1954.  Spiegels was/is a retailer.  It was made by Gale Mfg. who also made Evenrude and Johnson outboards.  This is a rather rare and quite hard to find motor.

I did not try to start it so it is being sold for parts or for repair.

Has twin cylinders, 2 plugs.  There is no starter rope.  The starter spring under the top cover seems to be working (photo #12).  I put a rope on the flywheel and pulled.  It has compression and turns the propeller shaft.  There is NO propeller but it does have the propeller nut.  There is some rust in the tank.  The hold down clamps look good.  There is NO holding pin for the motor lift/tilt.  The throttle moves from center to right but does not go past center towards the left.  Lean/rich knob turns but I do not know if it is working.  The knob below the lean/rich knob did not move.  Tiller handle folds up.  Carry handle is good.  Side shift moves but I do not know if it is working.  Gas cap is good.  Head rotates 360 degrees with no stops.

Size is about 41 x 20 x 12 inches.  Heavy it weighs about 46 pounds.

This is a very old motor, no title or paper work of any kind.

There are some dents on the motor covers. I have noted any damages, breaks, alterations, or repairs that I see.

Please see all 12 photos for cosmetic condition.  Sold as a display /collector item, but appears to be in fairly good condition.

Sold as a Local pick-up item.  I would prefer you to pick it up at my location.  Shipping might be possible and would be an additional fee.  Shipping would be expensive, over $100.  Email me for a shipping price quote if you are willing to pay full sale price plus at least $100 for shipping.  There are no returns on this item.

It is in as found condition and will look even better with a proper cleaning.

Red Dragon Ford 350 Monster Truck joins Top Gear Live +video

Red Dragon Ford 350 Monster Truck joins Top Gear Live If you enjoy Top Gear on the TV, you’ll love Top Gear Live. No, you don’t get the ‘road-trips’, but you do get complete petrolhead mayhem of a sort the BBC probably couldn’t live with on air. Case in point is this year’s addition to Top Gear Live madness, a 1308bhp custom-built Ford 350 Super Duty Monster Truck which stands 11′ high and shoots fridge-freezers – and anything else weighing up to 650kgs – 80 yards from an air cannon mounted on the back.

Tue, 15 Sep 2009

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 15 September 2009 10:00 Not one to miss out on a party, Ford gatecrashed the French brands’ electric carfest at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. The new Focus BEV (battery electric vechicle) is a working prototype and not bound for production – yet, although that is the longer term intention. A demo programme starts with 15 cars hitting UK roads in 2010.
